CapSettle – Roaming TAP Converter

The CapSettle Roaming TAP Converter allows communication providers to convert any GSMA standardized TAP version (TD.57) from one version into another. The solution empowers operators, providing control to their own business and data by minimizing clearing house conversion costs. The solution can be up and running within 2 weeks including acceptance testing and can run on low-end hardware.

Roaming TAP Conversion

The 1st of May 2012, the GSM Association introduced the newest TAP standard, TAP 3.12 for all GSM mobile network operators. To be able to comply to this GSMA directive, operators have to decide on the most cost effective and simple way to implement it. It is up to you as an operator, to make sure you are compliant with the latest version of the TAP format. Should any of your partners send you a 3.12 file and this is not supported by your system, it is still up to you to make sure this is converter, one way or another.

By deploying Capana’s future proof TAP 3.12 Converter solution, you will gain a highly cost efficient and reliable solution that allows for TAP IN/OUT files to be managed quickly and efficiently to ensure optimized cash flow at low and fixed cost.

1

A roaming billing system unable to encode or decode certain TAP formats as required according to current GSMA standard.

2

The TAP file is generated at the roaming billing system as a TAP 2/2+ or 3.x as usual to be distributed to the Data Clearing House or directly to the partner operator.

3

The TAP file is then sent to your Roaming Billing system in a TAP format compatible with your system for decoding.

4

The TAP file is collected by the CapSettle – Roaming TAP Converter, which has been integrated as a black box to the system, then converts the file to the necessary TAP format (as required by either the partners roaming billing system, or your own roaming billing system.

5

Once converted, the file can be sent to either a Data Clearing House or directly to the partner operator for decoding without any further conversion.

6

The TAP file is sent directly from the partner operator or from a data clearing house in a TAP version not supported by your roaming billing system, for instance TAP 3.12.

How does it work?

The CapSettle TAP 3.12 Converter is a module based conversion solution that fits elegantly in all GSM mobile network operators billing solution architectures. Whether there is a roaming billing or in-house solution operating in the background, the TAP 3.12 Converter can be interfaced as a stand alone black box or integrated entirely into the infrastructure of the operator.

The TAP 3.12 Converter receives TAP files in 2/2+ or 3.X format and converts the TAP into a TAP 2/2+ or 3.Y release, ensuring current and future compliance. In this way, the CapSettle TAP Converter is the safest, most reliable and cost efficient way to stay aligned with GSMA releases, minimising internal and external costs.

The TAP files are then ready to be distributed either directly to partner operators or Data Clearing Houses for further actions.
